After 37 years, competition engine specialist Peter May Engineering will see a new name take over the reins of the business, in a move that will secure the long term future of the well known firm. Dominic Mooney, managing director of Midland Classic Restorations, will officially take over the running of the engine and specialist parts business from Peter May in March 2017.
The two businesses have continued to work in collaboration on numerous projects for the last eight years. During which time, Peter May Engineering and Midland Classic Restorations have shared premises in Worcestershire, which the pair have developed into a bespoke race workshop capable of building race winning engines and delivering outstanding race preparation services.
Peter May Engineering will continue to develop and supply its trademark A and B Series competition engines and performance parts. However, the change of ownership will see the launch of a number of new performance engine products and specialist competition parts during 2017.
Peter May will continue to work within the business in the short term before taking retirement in March 2017. During this time, both May and Mooney will continue to collaborate on their existing projects and the development of their renowned championship winning racing engines.
Peter May, director, commented: “I am extremely pleased to be handing the reins over to a very safe pair of hands. Dominic is a very talented engineer who has developed some exceptionally successful race engines over the last ten years. He has some great ideas to drive the business forward and I know he will continue build on the reputation that my brother and I worked hard to achieve over the last 37 years.
“Over the last eight years we have continued to work together on numerous projects and during this time we have shared many engineering ideas and product development plans. I am sure that my customers will continue to enjoy the success and reliability they have always gained from using Peter May Engineering parts and engines.”
Dominic Mooney, director, commented: “I have continued to enjoy working with Peter over the last few years and have benefitted from his knowledge and experience during this time. I have a number of plans moving forward with regards to a range of new products for the future, but for now my intention is to continue to build on the good company name that Peter has developed and ensure that we continue to develop the very best engines and parts for our customers.”
